Uses

Absolute Oils are most used in the perfume industry. From the big cosmetic/perfume companies to small independent producers, absolute oils are used in perfumes and toiletries. These absolute oils are blended with other oils and fragrances to create individual unique scents. Please note, the absolutes, like essential oils, should never be applied directly to the skin.

Absolute oils have been used through the ages as alternative forms of healing. This is because they, like essential oils, through both the sense of smell (the olfactory system) and by being absorbed by the skin, affect the mind, body and spirit. Aromatherapy has been used, especially in Europe, to treat many physical and mental conditions such as depression, high blood pressure, imsomnia, burns, infections, and headaches.

There are many books that give more insight into uses of essential and absolute oils:

Absolute oils can be added to baths or mixed with a carrier oil and used in massage. The absolute oils are very concentrated so care should be taken not to use too much. (If unfamiliar with these oils, consult a qualified aromatherapise before using them). Often, the absolute oil is combined with other essential oils to create the desired fragrance and therapeutic result.

Alternatively, the absolute aroma can be dispersed into the air and there are many ways to do this. The simplest method would be to apply a few drops to a tissue and keep it close. The most complex method would be with a nebulizer which is a diffuser made especially for essential and absolute oils. The nebulizer breaks the oil into tiny molecules before pumping them into the room. (Once again, if unfamiliar with these oils, consult a qualified aromatherapist before using them).
There are a mind boggling array of other ways to disperse the fragrance into the air: Candles heating ceramic saucers of water with a few drops of oil in, small units to plug into electric sockets with a pad the oil can be added to, lamp rings that can be put on light fittings, fans that blow air through a pad with the oil fragrance on.... the list is seemingly endless.

Absolute oils are also added to the soap making and candle making processes. When these products are used the olefactory system is affected and hence, in turn, the mind, body, and spirit.
